Sylvester Stallone - Breaking Mind's Boundaries

This is one of the true short inspirational stories and it will show you how persistence, belief and dedication results in great success. This is a story about a men who believes his abilities and persistence can overcome all obstacles. This is a story of Sylvester Stallone's road to success.

Complicated labour paralysed Stallone's face

Sylvester Stallone was born on July 6, 1946. in NYC. Due to complications during the labour, the lower left side of Stallone's face is paralyzed, including parts of his tongue, lip and chin. He went to school in suburban Philadelphia where he firs started acting. He left drama major at the University of Miami before graduation and moved to NYC to pursue his acting career.

Nobody wanted to hire him

He auditioned for almost every casting agent in town with no success. Because his paralyzed face and slurred manner of speaking no body wanted to hire him but he kept auditioning anyway. Then he started writing more screenplays and received similar rejections. He had run out of money and was living in a desperate situation. He could barely feed his family. Then one day he was walking through the streets of New Yourk and he wandered into the library to keep him warm. This became a regular habit for him during the colder months. By this stage he was desperate to get work but he wouldn't take an average job, he knew his outcome, he wanted to be an actor and that was it.

Stallone wrote the scenario for movie Rocky

One day Stallone was sitting at home watching a fight between Weppner and Ali. Weppner was getting absolutely slaughtered but kept holding his ground and coming back for more. This underdog was really fighting for it despite the slim chance he would even get close to winning. This inspired Stallone to begin writing based on his inspiration from this fighter. He wrote over 24 hours and after this time he had written the entire script to Rocky. He tried to sell the script with intention of playing the lead role but all producers did not want to have him in the movie.

He was so poor that he had to sell his dog

He was so poor by this time that he decided he had to sell his best friend, his dog. Stallone waited outside of a local liquor store asking people if they would buy his dog. Eventually someone bought the dog for arround $50. He was devastated after he did this so he tried to sell his Rocky scenario as soon as possible. So eventually someone loved it and they agreed to do the movie, but again didn't want him to play in it. So Stallone declined their offer of over $100 000 despite his current poverty. A couple of weeks later they contacted him with an even higher offer and Stallone insisted he play Rocky. They declined once again.

He refused $400 000 although he was very poor

The offer kept rising just so he would sell them the film. The price eventually went up to $400 000 but he still declined. He was certain that he was actor and that was it. For Stallone there was no doubt or compromise about it. Eventually they offerd him the role but they bought the script for $25000 so they weren't throwing their money by having him as the lead role. He accepted these terms. The first thing he did after that was that he bought his dog back. His dog costed him $15000 and a part in the movie. So the guy who bought the dog, and the dog are in the movie.
Stallone achieved his success because he always believed in himself and his vision. It looks like he always knew his outcome.
